The UK’s only theatre ship, the Fitzcarraldo, has been sold by arts organisation Walk the Plank. It will now become a floating venue in Holland. The ship was brought to Britain from Norway in 1991 by the producers of North West-based Walk the Plank. It has spent 18 years touring the coast of the British Isles, delivering theatre shows to hundreds of ports in the UK and Ireland, particularly in towns that lack a dedicated theatre space. The ship also hosted music and cabaret nights during Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture. Walk the Plank comprises a mixture of artists and event engineers who work with visual images, fire, fireworks and music to create outdoor performance and events.
