'Lady From The Sea’ at the Birmingham Rep

Lee Hall (Best New Play) and Mike Britton (Best Set Design, for ‘Lady From The Sea’ at the Birmingham Rep) (pictured) were among the less immediately famous names who received awards at the Theatrical Management Association’s Theatre Awards last month.

West End producer and Everton Football Club Chairman, Bill Kenwright, was handed the TMA Special Award for Individual Achievement by Dame Judi Dench. The Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester had particular cause for celebration, landing Best Performance in a play (Brenda Blethyn), Best Supporting Performance in a Play (Kate O’Flynn) and Best Lighting Design (Mick Hughes). The Stage newspaper’s Award for Special Achievement in Regional Theatre went to Latitude festival, which attracts “a broad range of age groups – in rather impressive numbers” to a highly varied programme.
