Sadler’s Wells is inviting applications for its international online dance contest, which offers an annual winner £2,000 and the chance to perform at Sadler’s Wells (pictured). The web-based competition will use YouTube to host the entries and will build up to a final showcase of each year’s winner in 2012. Anyone in the world over the age of 18 can enter, by creating and capturing on video an original piece of dance between 30 seconds and three minutes long. Ten entrants, shortlisted by a judging panel, will create a longer piece of five minutes or more. These will be submitted to a public vote, which opens on 1 September. The winner will be declared on 18 November 2009.
