Fife Council has approved an updated proposal by the university to run the theatre, which ceased trading last year following financial difficulties. Equity condemned the original plans, which would have seen the theatre used predominantly as a lecture hall; the new arrangement states that “around 22 weeks per annum will be given over to exclusive use of the auditorium by professional arts organisations”.
