Nine education unions and associations are teaming up to launch a festival celebrating the arts in schools.

The Festival of School and College Arts is a rare collaboration between the organisations, which include the Association of School and College Leaders, the Independent Schools Council and the National Education Union, Europe's largest education union representing almost half a million teachers.

The festival will take place on Friday 28 May. Any school and college can take part by posting their pupils’ artistic achievements on Twitter using the hashtag #EduArtsFest

Teachers’ union NASUWT said: “We know schools and colleges have many demands on their time, but we’re hoping this day of celebration will act as a moment of relief from other pressures, showcasing poems, painting, and performances that are already happening within or around lessons.”
