A new award is shining a spotlight on music creators provoking new thinking on climate change, social cohesion and the environment.

The Arts Foundation and PRS Foundation have joined forces on the £10,000 Music for Change award, which highlights music makers inspiring future generations on these issues.

UK-based artists, songwriters, composers, producers, and sound artists from all genres will be nominated by industry experts. Four finalists will be chosen from a longlist in Autumn 2021. The three runners up will also receive £1,000.

Shelley Warren, Arts Foundation Director, said: “Artists are increasingly being called upon to activate the social imagination, making available new ways to know and understand an increasingly complex world."

"Artists provide a critical lens that educates, and holds a mirror to society, influencing what gets attention in the public sphere and shaping perspective and opinion.”
