Labour highlights drop in schoolchildren engaging with arts

Figures from the Taking Part survey released last year reveal that, between 2010 and 2013, the proportion of primary school pupils taking part in after-school music activities fell from 55% to 36%, theatre and drama participation fell from 49% to 33% and dance from 45% to 29%. The decline was greatest amongst children from ethnic minority backgrounds.
