Hackney Empire clears debt as it triumphs in legal battle

The theatre was able to clear its debt after a long-running legal dispute with insurance company Aviva was settled in the venue’s favour. Hackney Empire chief executive Clarie Middleton said the debt had hindered efforts to attract grants and sponsorship.
