Charities lose out on £300m of business rates relief

Local authorities awarded just 12% of the discretionary relief available for charities in 2013/14, according to the latest figures. The National Council for Voluntary Organisations said: “It’s evidently disappointing… but it reflects the difficult funding environment for local government.”
