Audience votes for anti-Thatcher song to remain in ‘Billy Elliot’

The inclusion of the song ‘Merry Christmas Maggie Thatcher’ that makes reference to the former Prime Minister’s death was put to a vote at the Victoria Palace theatre the evening following her passing. After the context of the song was explained, a majority voted for it to be performed.
