The National Gallery will now keep 25 pieces from Sir Denis Mahon’s collection. The Scottish National Gallery; the Ashmolean in Oxford; Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery; the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge; and Temple Newsam House in Leeds will also benefit.
