Jazz educator Dr Kathy Dyson will chair a review into the operation, management and business of jazz.

The All-Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group review will comprise two parts: a 'where are we now' examination of the state of the industry through five surveys followed by a "succint action plan for jazz in England," group secretary Chris Hodgkins said.

The chairs and vice chairs say jazz is "rich beyond the dreams of avarice" in terms of musicians, composers, educators, promoters, audiences, orchestras and organisations.

"But there are some vital issues that need addressing urgently: increased investment, frictionless touring in the EU, financial support for musicians and promoters who fell through the cracks in 2020/21 and a fair deal for musicians getting their music streamed."

Dyson said the review is "a genuine and concerted attemt by people who care deeply about the music" to resolve these issues during the post-Covid period.

Submissions can be made here before midnight, Monday June 28.
