The Royal Festival Hall is to open on 8 June after a multi-million pound refurbishment. The opening comes after a two-year renovation period, which is said to have significantly upgraded the venues acoustics and facilities. Amongst the developments, staff and production facilities have been moved into a new extension building creating an extra 35% of space in the Hall for public use.
The original seating has also been refurbished, and riverside cafés, rooftop terraces, a restaurant, double-size interval bars and outdoor balconies have also been redeveloped. The opening weekend will see 24,000 free tickets distributed for special performances in the Hall.
