Patrick Stewart as Macbeth (pictured) has been given the award for Best Performance in a Play at the 2007 annual Theatrical Management Association (TMA) Theatre Awards. The star of X-Men and Star Trek has won widespread acclaim for his performance as Macbeth at Chichester Festival Theatre, described as The Macbeth of a lifetime by the Evening Standard.

Best Performance in a Musical went to Henry Goodman for Sheffield Theatres Fiddler on the Roof at the Crucible, whilst the Special Award for Individual Achievement was presented to choreographer and director, Matthew Bourne. Other winners included Birmingham Royal Ballet, which came top of the Outstanding Achievement in Dance category for its performances of Stravinsky! A Celebration.
