The new £15m Hull Truck Theatre has opened, complete with a new piece of artwork on the roof. ‘Light Curtain’ (pictured), by Vong Phaophanit and Claire Oboussier, is made of red neon tubes, which react to activity both inside and outside the theatre. The new theatre houses a 440-seat auditorium, 134-seat studio theatre and an education space. It is also believed to be one of the greenest theatres built to date, with a natural cooling and ventilation system. Hull Truck Theatre was formed in 1971, operating as a touring company from the back of a truck, and acquired its first home in 1983 in converted church rooms.
