Artist Maurice Agis has been found guilty under the Health and Safety Act of one count of failing to ensure the safety of a person, following the accident in July 2006 when Dreamspace, his outdoor inflatable artwork, flipped over at an event in Chester-le-Street. The jury at Newcastle Crown Court was unable to reach a verdict on two other counts of manslaughter, relating to the deaths of two women who were inside the work at the time. Agis awaits sentencing on 26 March. Meanwhile the Crown Prosecution Service will decide whether to pursue the outstanding charges.
