Everyone in the South West of England is being invited to dance for five minutes on 6 July, as part of Big Dance 2008, the week-long nationwide celebration of dance.

Dance South West is co-ordinating activities for all ages and abilities in a range of locations. The National Youth Dance Festival also takes place in London that week, with public performances and screenings across the capital. Speaking at an event to celebrate the Festival launch, Culture Minister Margaret Hodge has announced that more than £100,000 will earmarked by Youth Dance England in response to the Government’s PE and Sport Strategy for Young People. Its Dance Links Scheme will enable more schools and specialist colleges to link with local dance schools and professionals.
