Negotiations continue between the Broadcasting Entertainment Cinematograph and Theatre Union (BECTU) and the Theatrical Management Association (TMA), despite reports of a breakdown. In response to BECTU’s claim for a 5% pay rise, the TMA has proposed a wage freeze. BECTU is currently canvassing its members on this proposal before returning to the table on 2 April. BECTU’s Willy Donaghy told AP that the meeting would give “a good indication of the future direction of industrial relations”. Speaking to AP, Kathleen Hamilton, Principal Officer at TMA, said that “When we’re in constructive negotiation with the unions with whom the TMA has a relationship, we have a policy of making no comment”.
