The Black Cultural Archives (BCA) has appointed a new Chair and interim Managing Director.

Dr YVONNE THOMPSON became Board Chair earlier this month.

A businesswoman, activist and founder of WinTrade Global Network, Thompson says she is looking forward to delivering the strategic vision of the oldest Black-owned institution of its kind in the UK.

“My priorities are to grow and make the organisation fiscally competitive and to ensure the BCA is top of mind when thinking about Black historical information and education.”

Interim Managing Director LISA ANDERSON took up post in December following the resignation of ARIKE OKE.

An experienced curator and consultant, Anderson says joining BCA in its 40th anniversary year is a "full circle moment".

“The BCA is needed now more than ever. Our hope is to celebrate the BCA’s achievements and consolidate its position as a national heritage treasure, dedicated to collecting, preserving and celebrating Black History."
