Dancer and choreographer RUTH BRILL, who retired from Birmingham Royal Ballet earlier this year, will succeed LUCILLE BRIANCE MBE as Artistic Director of London Children’s Ballet (LCB).  Announcing her departure, Briance told One Dance UK: “I have come to the conclusion after 25 years of open auditions that ballet is grossly misunderstood and undervalued as a hobby by the public funding sector and to some extent also by the general public. Ballet, perhaps because it can be so beautiful, is perceived as elitist, whereas I know the opposite to be true.” Brill danced with LCB in four productions as a child and credits the company as having inspired her to embark on a career in dance.
