The Scottish Arts Council (SAC) is updating its Getting There CD-Rom on inclusion in the arts, which was created in 2005 to provide information and advice to ensure that disabled people are fully included in all aspects of the work of SAC-funded organisations. It is looking for current case studies which show best practice relating to access to buildings, festivals, programming and employment.

More than 100 free information sheets to help voluntary and amateur arts groups are now available to view and download free of charge from the Voluntary Arts England website. The information covers topics such as, How to write a successful funding application and Planning a marketing campaign.

Edinburghs largest Fringe venue, The Pleasance, has collected a special Tartan Ribbon Award at the Arts & Business Scottish Awards ceremony. The Award was created by Arts & Business to celebrate the relationship between The Pleasance and Waverley Care, Scotlands leading HIV charity, which has yielded over £140,000 for the charitys work.

A new guide to mentoring, aimed at emerging and established writers and literature development professionals, has being published by New Writing North. The Write Guide: Mentoring, by Martin Goodman and Sara Maitland, explains the mechanics of successful mentoring, including how to recruit mentors and select appropriate mentees, funding mentoring schemes, troubleshooting, distance learning schemes and a sample mentoring contract. To coincide with the publication of the book, a tour of UK venues has been planned, with networking events and seminars.

The Scottish Arts Council is providing support for an artist to take part in an International Residency Programme with New York arts organisation Location One. The chosen artist will take part in workshops, gallery tours, openings, performances and artistic discussions, and have access to studio space equipped with the latest graphics, video and Internet software, based in the citys Soho district. Support will be given in finding accommodation in New York.
