Indonesia’s first contemporary art gallery opens in Jakarta

The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara (Museum MACAN) has opened with a collection of nearly 800 paintings and sculptures by Indonesian and international artists. The private museum has conservation and education spaces, and hopes to boost engagement with contemporary art as well as encourage cultural exchange through relationships with museums around the world.
