An open letter signed by 83 cultural figures, filmmakers and photographers – including David Hockney and Mike Leigh – has criticised the decision to move more than 400,000 photographs from Bradford’s National Media Museum to London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, saying “a number of us who have deposited our photographs in the museum did so specifically because we wanted our work to be preserved in the north”.
