DAVID SEFTON is the new Artistic Director of Gulbenkian Arts Centre, the University of Kent’s arts institution.

Sefton will be responsible for delivering the centre's multi-arts programme for the 2022-23 season, featuring Pussy Riot, The Foreign Office, 1927 and Improbable.

Sefton is currently Director of Culture & Creative Projects at the University of Kent. He was founder of Southbank’s Meltdown Festival and has gained arts and cultural experience across the world, having served on boards in the UK, US and Australia.

In Australia, he was a board member of the Experimental Art Foundation, WRITERS SA, the South Australian Writers Association and the Arts Industry Council of South Australia. He was also the Artistic Director of the Adelaide Festival of Arts.

In the UK, Sefton has been a board member of the Arts Council of England Music Panel, the Literature panel of Greater London Arts and the Hackney Empire.
