JANE CORDELL has been appointed Chair of Arts Marketing Association (AMA).

An AMA board member for five years, Cordell succeeds TIM WOOD as Chair, who has stood down after leading the board for seven years.

Cordell has worked as a lecturer, editor and diplomat and is now the Director of Result CIC, a social enterprise providing training and coaching for marginalised groups. A classical musician who became deaf in her early twenties, Cordell works regularly as a public speaker and equality campaigner, and is a former Chair of DaDaFest (Disability and Deaf Arts).

“Cordell will be leading us to achieve our vision of having audiences at the heart of the cultural sector,” Chief Executive CATH HUME said.

Hume also gave thanks to outgoing Wood, who “during his time as Chair has been a friend, advocate and champion of the UK’s arts marketing workforce”.

“Tim has helped steer the organisation through challenges, exciting changes and a period of growth which has seen our community of members double in size.”

Cordell commented: “It’s an exciting time ahead as the AMA looks to champion marketing, advocate for our members, and help address systemic barriers to a more diverse cultural sector”.

“Our members play a vital role in connecting and building long-lasting relationships with their audiences.

“I can’t wait to help support the ambition of Cath, her fantastic team, and my fellow board members in ensuring the importance of the marketing skillset of our members is recognised across the cultural sector.”
