Curve theatre boss Chris Stafford reveals why he turned down a £492k capital funding offer. 

It is generally regarded as a bad idea to look a gift horse in the mouth. But this is exactly what the boss of Curve theatre did. Chris Stafford, who took up the role of chief executive of Leicester's flagship theatre last autumn, recently won £492,000 of Arts Council funding to transform the theatre's café and restaurant.
He said: "It was a fantastic grant to receive but we decided not to go with it."
On the face of it, this seems like madness.
