Contemporary art centre Spike Island has announced JUDITH SQUIRES as its new board Chair.

She will take over the role this month from Interim Chair LOUISE O’DONNELL, who will remain Honorary Treasurer.

Squires is Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost at the University of Bristol and a Professor of Political Theory. She is also a member of Bristol Ideas Board and Chair of the Brunel Institute Collaborative Management Board.

Squires says she is looking forward to leading the board during the next phase of its development and supporting the Bristol venue to realise its future potential.

“Spike Island has an outstanding record of showcasing internationally recognised and emerging artists, and for providing a vibrant space for artists and creatives to work and develop,” she added.
