CLARE SLATER has been appointed the new Artistic Director and joint Chief Executive of HighTide, taking over from SUBA DAS.

Slater is currently Head of New Work at the Donmar Warehouse, a position she has held for six years, commissioning and developing new plays while supportng the company’s artistic strategy and programming.

She also sits on the Creative Council of Shakespeare’s Globe. She previously served on the Board of the Royal & Derngate in Northampton and worked as Executive Director and joint CEO of the Gate Theatre in Notting Hill.

"[HighTide] is a powerhouse of British playwriting and I’m honoured to be continuing Suba’s great work. I can’t wait to support and champion the exceptional writing talent in the East of England, for the whole nation to enjoy,” she said.

Chair of the HighTide Board Tim Clark described Slater as “a highly talented arts leader with a strong track record of developing new writing talent coupled with a commitment to inclusivity and engagement”.
