LYNDA ROOKE has been elected by Equity members to serve as the union’s President for the 2022 to 2024 term.
She takes over from MAUREEN BEATTIE, who served in the role for two terms over four years.
It will be Rooke’s first time serving in the role, after previously serving as Vice President and South West Area Councillor.
“It is an honour not only to be elected President of Equity but to serve alongside a renewed, progressive council. Together we will prioritise better pay and dignity at work for our members and raise Equity’s profile further in the wider fight for social justice,” Rooke said.
Equity General Secretary PAUL W. FLEMING said that members have “again chosen an exciting, progressive council, dedicated to ensuring we continue to be a strong union”.
