After 16 years in the role, BRETT ROGERS will be stepping down as Director of the Photographer’s Gallery at the end of 2022.

Since taking on the job in 2006, Rogers has spearheaded a range of cultural presentations and institutional developments in London and overseas.

She directed the gallery’s relocation in 2012, established a history of championing female photographers and appointed the gallery’s first digital curator, as well as establishing a multi-form artistic programme, a range of educational resources and initiatives to support new photography talent.

Last month, she launched Soho Photography Quarter, a new free, permanent outdoor exhibition space in the streets surrounding the gallery.

“Over the past two decades, I have had the privilege of collaborating with a wide range of talented artists, photographers and curators, worked with inspiring colleagues both internally and externally and taken great pleasure in extending the impact of the Gallery’s world-renowned programmes through developing new partnerships,” Rogers said.

Recruitment will begin this month for her successor, expected to be in place by December this year.
