HANNAH DONAT has been appointed Director of Artistic Planning for the BBC Proms. She will take up the role on 1 May.

A former Concerts Director of Britten Sinfonia, Donat has been Artistic Producer of the Proms for the last seven years, which has seen her bring orchestras and ensembles to the event and work closely with the BBC’s Orchestras and Choirs.

In her new role, she will work closely with Radio 3 and BBC Proms Controller SAM JACKSON to shape and deliver the annual Proms season.

“Hannah is a brilliant colleague and is highly respected across the industry. I’m thrilled she will be stepping up in this new role, working closely with me to deliver the very best classical music to the widest possible audience,” Jackson said.

The BBC says recruitment will begin shortly for a new Artistic Producer.
