Dr INBAL LIVNE has joined Manchester Art Gallery in the new role of Senior Creative Lead.

With a professional background in various curatorial roles, Livne was Collections Manager at Kent’s Powell-Cotton Museum before becoming Head of Collections and Engagement. During her time at the museum she focused on reframing the museum’s colonial history, and played a pivotal role in acknowledging and centring this history in public exhibitions.

Livne came to Manchester in 2021 to join John Rylands Library as Curator, Diversifying Collections.

Having begun her new role on Monday (10 July), Livne will now help shape how Manchester Art Gallery’s collections are used and understood. Working closely alongside Senior Operational Lead AMANDA WALLACE, she will hold personal responsibility for the development and delivery of the public programme.

Councillor and Deputy Leader of Manchester City Council LUTHFUR RAHMAN OBE said Livne will be “great” for the gallery.

“She very much shares our values and her passion for people, for places, and for telling their stories creatively to as wide an audience as possible is infectious, and exactly what we're looking for as the gallery moves into the next two hundred years.”

"I'm hugely excited to have been given the opportunity to play a central role in the life and history of Manchester Art Gallery,” Livne added.

“I can't wait to get going and to continue the two hundred years' worth of collaboration and innovation that the gallery has already been known for.”
