London’s Roundhouse welcomes three new directors
The Roundhouse music and arts venue in London has appointed three new directors across the organisation.
LIZ WAINWRIGHT joins the Camden venue as director of operations and estate.
Over a 35-year career, she has worked for a variety of arts organisations including the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal Court in London.
Most recently, she was interim director of operations at Sadler’s Wells, where she led on the opening of the new Sadler’s Wells East venue in Stratford, East London.
Wainwright will provide strategic leadership for all activities at the Grade-II* listed building as well as at its creative centre for entrepreneurs, Roundhouse Works, and its office container building.
SARA BAKHATY has been appointed commercial director of the organisation.
Bakhaty was most recently at the National Theatre, where she was director of marketing and sales.
Before that, she was head of marketing at the Wilderness Festival, a music and arts festival in Oxfordshire.
At the Roundhouse, she will lead on commercial strategy, brand and marketing.
AMANDA COWLEY joins in the newly created role of director of people and culture.
An experienced HR leader, Cowley will be responsible for developing the organisation’s engagement with and support for its staff.
She has previously worked as an HR consultant for organisations, including the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
Cowley has also had executive leadership roles at Capital City College and the medical research charity LifeArc.
Roundhouse CEO and artistic director, MARCUS DAVEY, said: “I am so pleased to be welcoming these three experienced and highly-motivated directors to our leadership team.
“Liz, Amanda and Sara all bring proven track records and passion for our sector, which will be invaluable in ensuring that the Roundhouse is delivering across all areas for our vibrant and varied community.”
