KATH M MAINLAND MBE has been appointed executive director of Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre, succeeding LIAM SINCLAIR, who is moving on to take up the role of executive director and co-chief executive of the National Theatre of Scotland.

Mainland has over 20 years’ experience leading arts organisations in both the UK and Australia.

Originally from Orkney, she has spent the last ten years working in festivals in Australia, including as chief executive of Adelaide Festival. She has also been executive director and co-CEO of RISING Melbourne and chief executive of Melbourne International Arts Festival.

She described Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre’s “combination of world-class theatre, an internationally acclaimed dance company and a community engagement programme that goes right to the heart of the community” as a “dream come true” for her.

Dundee Rep Theatre CEO and artistic director ANDREW PANTON said her appointment comes at a “pivotal time” for the companies.

“Kath’s extensive experience could not be a better fit for our unique organisation, as we continue to produce world-class theatre and dance,” he added.
