ALYS BEIDER has been appointed executive director and joint chief executive of South Asian theatre company Tara Theatre.

She replaces HELEN JEFFREYS as executive director, who has been in the role since 2019.

Beider, who will take up her new job in August, joins the company from Multi-Story Orchestra (MSO), an organisation ‘creatively led by young people from South London’, where she has been executive director since 2023.

Prior to MSO she was head of operations and finance at Stockroom theatre company.

Beider, will lead the organisation alongside NATASHA KATHI-CHANDRA, the company’s artistic director, described joining Tara Theatre as “an honour and a privilege”.

She added: “My leadership will champion Tara’s legacy as well as look forward to spotlighting and cultivating new South Asian voices, and expand how we understand the experiences of global majority communities.

“To lead alongside Natasha, whose artistic vision strives for artistic excellence as well as unapologetic examination of the world through a South Asian lens, is a galvanising opportunity for me.”

Tara Theatre has also announced GAVIN JOSEPH, a theatre director, actor, and writer based in London, as its permanent associate director.
