Rambert will welcome RAFAЁL BIOSSE DUPLAN as chair of the board, effective from June this year.

Biosse Duplan is to bring more than three decades of experience in the financial sector to the ballet company as it celebrates its 100th anniversary.

While holding senior executive roles in banking and serving as chief executive of global asset management firm Finisterre Capital, Biosse Duplan co-founded EMpower UK, a global foundation that partners with local organisations to enable marginalised young people to transform their lives.

He currently holds senior governance roles at the V&A and the Photographers’ Gallery in London.

His experience with financial stewardship and risk management will help him to work closely with the board, supporting Rambert “as it writes the next chapter of its exceptional history, strengthening its long-term resilience and sustainability”.

Biosse Duplan said he was “delighted” to join at “such a pivotal moment” of Rambert’s history, calling it a “privilege”.

“This is a company defined by artists, by courage, curiosity and reinvention across generations,” he said.

“Building on this foundation, my focus will be to steward Rambert’s extraordinary cultural capital responsibly and imaginatively, ensuring it continues to thrive as a national and international force, accessible, resilient and artistically uncompromising for the next hundred years.”

Following on from current chair Dame SUE STREET‘s seven-year tenure, he will build on her legacy by “continuing to champion bold artistic choices” and “encouraging continued strategic innovation”.

Street said she felt “incredibly proud” of Rambert and its “remarkable dancers”.

Rambert chief executive and executive producer HELEN SHUTE and artistic director BENOIT SWAN POUFFER said it was a “real pleasure” to welcome the new chair.

“We look forward to working with him to continue to champion ambitious and groundbreaking dance in our local community, around the country and internationally.”
