Punchdrunk Enrichment has announced that STEVE MCCOURT will take on the roles of artistic director and co-CEO.

McCourt will succeed Punchdrunk Enrichment’s founder and current artistic director, PETER HIGGIN, who will step down in December after 17 years in post.

Higgin founded Punchdrunk Enrichment in 2008 to bring Punchdrunk’s immersive theatre work into communities and schools.

A Brent-based theatre maker and educator, McCourt has been the company’s associate director for two years, working on projects including its Immersive Learning Toolkit.

Previously, he worked for companies such as Tall Stories, Improbable and The Wardrobe Ensemble.

Calling his time with Punchdrunk Enrichment the “happiest and proudest moments as a creative”, McCourt said he was ready to “lead the team into new creative pastures” when he takes up the new role.

Higgin said that he was “thrilled” to hand over leadership to McCourt, adding that there was “no better person for the job”.
