Liverpool arts festival leader among recruits to gallery board
The director of Liverpool Biennial is to join Lightbox Gallery and Museum in Woking as a trustee.
Dr SAMANTHA LACKEY, who since 2020 has led the festival of contemporary art, is a former curator at Hepworth Wakefield.
She joins the Surrey-based organisation’s board alongside chartered engineer and former senior building services adviser for Historic England, GERALDINE O’FARRELL.
The pair are recruited to the board with fellow appointee SARAH ATKINSON, who has worked at organisations including Dulwich Picture Gallery, the Museum of London (now London Museum), and the Courtauld.
Lackey and Atkinson both grew up in Surrey, while O’Farrell is herself based in Woking.
O’Farrell said she was “looking forward” to working with the team, while Atkinson expressed her “delight” at her appointment.
Lackey said: “Having grown up in the area I am only too aware of the value and opportunity that the organisation brings as a cultural hub for the Woking and Surrey community.
“I look forward to sharing my expertise in the cultural sector with the brilliant existing leadership and trustees to support the organisation as it heads towards its 20th anniversary and the future.”
SARAH BROWN, director of Lightbox Gallery and Museum, added: “I am thrilled to welcome Geraldine, Sam and Sarah to the board, bringing their expertise, national perspectives and strategic guidance with a passion for art, heritage and audiences to shape the future of Lightbox Gallery and Museum.”
