The Lang Lang International Music Foundation (LLIMF) has announced that Lord SIMON WOOLLEY will be joining its board.

Woolley is Principal of Homerton College at the University of Cambridge and independent non-executive director for the Co-Op.

In the 1990s he founded Operation Black Vote and has continued to campaign for the amplification of voices from Black and minority ethnic communities in the UK. He was nominated as a cross bench peer in former Prime Minister THERESA MAY‘s resignation honours list.

LLIMF said that Woolley’s appointment will come as the organisation expands its reach in the UK and US, working alongside educators, policymakers, and community leaders to ensure that every child has the opportunity to experience music.

Woolley said: “I am delighted to be part of the Lang Lang Music Foundation and admire its innovative approach towards teaching disadvantaged children the magic of the piano, including reading, playing, and expressing music.

“It is something that the foundation does at the highest level and I look forward to working with a dynamic and diverse board.”

LAND LANG added “Simon Woolley’s lifelong commitment to equality and opportunity makes him a tremendous addition to our team. His passion for empowering young people aligns perfectly with our belief that music education is a fundamental right, not a privilege. We are thrilled to have him join our mission.”
