Birmingham Royal Ballet announces new trustees with ‘wealth of expertise and experience’
Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB) has appointed four new trustees to its board of directors, who joined the organisation officially today (2 December).
Chartered accountant STEVE CURRIE brings over 30 years experience in the financial services sector in Birmingham and London to the ballet company.
Having retired in 2023, Currie now acts as board advisor and mentor and is currently a trustee of the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation.
Head of litigation at Birmingham’s Squire Patton Boggs ELLIE PINNELLS is now training as a ballet pianist and directs a wellbeing choir.
Pinnells supports young people’s access to music and the arts, and has a particular interest in championing the arts as a driver for equality in society.
Joining them is qualified accountant HARMINDER RANDHAWA, who has worked in finance for over two decades and is currently finance manager at Jaguar Land Rover.
Randhawa is a member of the board of trustees at the IKON Gallery in Birmingham, where she has chaired the risk committee for three years, and is passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion in the arts.
Charity leader CLARE RICHARDS MBE will also be joining BRB as a trustee, bringing over 25 years’ experience in the charity sector.
Richards is director of the Coutts Foundation, which supports charities helping women affected by domestic violence and supporting young people to access the performing arts, and founded IntoUniversity, a charity providing local learning centres for over 60,000 young people.
“I am delighted to welcome our new trustees to the Birmingham Royal Ballet board,” BRB chair Sir DAVID NORMINGTON said.
“Their combined skills will bring us a wealth of expertise and experience to help secure BRB’s future as one of the UK’s leading ballet companies.”
