A West End and Broadway production company is to expand into scripted television, with its new “screen-faced division” headed up by former Disney employee PAUL MCKENZIE.

Thomas Hopkins Productions (THP) is launching End Card, its strand dedicated to original storytelling as well as screen adaptations of existing plays, with a focus on material likely to have “cinematic scale and international reach”.

In addition, End Card will feature live capture work, led by newly appointed live capture consultant GIO MESSALE. Messale has crafted more than 30 professionally filmed “captures” of West End and Broadway shows.

THOMAS HOPKINS, founder and creative director of the company, said: “During the pandemic, I had the opportunity to work with multiple broadcasters, creating work that moved from the stage to the screen. In this full-circle moment, having Paul lead our new wing of THP at End Card feels especially meaningful.

“It’s about where stage and screen meet – finding ways of sharing live performance with wider audiences whilst also adapting our stage IP into bold, distinctive projects.”
