Conceptual artist JEREMY DELLER has joined the board of Koestler Arts, after more than two decades working alongside the charity to advance its work.

Deller becomes a trustee a year on from co-curating the charity’s annual
exhibition in the UK, a 2024 Southbank Centre showcase titled No Comment.

He becomes one of 11 board members to oversee an organisation committed to unlocking “hope, talent, and potential” via the arts in the criminal justice system, led by its chair, Sir RICHARD HEATON.

A Turner Prize winner and former British representative at the Venice Biennale, Deller has featured as a regular judge for the yearly Koestler Awards.

Born in London, and a graduate of the Courtauld Institute of Art, Deller’s work is characterised by themes including collaboration and “social surrealism”.

He is also a former Tate trustee.

FIONA CURRAN, chief executive of Koestler Arts, commented: “Jeremy has contributed ideas and support to Koestler Arts for many years, as someone who, of course, completely gets the power of creativity to change lives.

“We are all excited to be working with him in his new role as Koestler Arts trustee.”
