Trestle Theatre CEO retires following charity merger
CLARE WINTER has retired from her role as executive director and joint CEO of Trestle Theatre after 15 years with the company.
Winter first joined the mask and physical theatre company in 2009 as finance and operations director. Previously, she worked as a fundraiser at Saharawan Aid Trust.
Winter’s departure at the end of June follows the announcement that the Hertfordshire-based theatre company will merge with local charity Communities 1st in a move that will “provide operational resilience” while preserving its “artistic mission”.
In a statement, Trestle said Winter will support Trestle during its final integration stages with Communities 1st and collaborate closely with the team to ensure “a smooth and professional handover”.
Winter said it had been “a privilege” to work with the company. “I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together and of Trestle’s continuing legacy as a place where theatre, community and imagination meet. While it’s the right time for me to retire, Trestle will always hold a very special place in my heart.”
Chair of Trestle’s board, SAM LANE, added that Winter had been “an incredibly dedicated and valued member of the team” who had navigated many highs and lows “with unwavering commitment, care, and resilience”.
