Six new board members appointed to Advisory Council on National Records and Archives

Culture Secretary LISA NANDY has appointed six new board members to the Advisory Council on National Records and Archives (ACNRA).

The new board members, who serve for four years, bring with them a wide range of experience and expertise.

ALEXANDRA JONES is the director of anti-money laundering at the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and has experience in governance, compliance, and leadership.

SALLY MCINNES is the former head of unique and contemporary content at the National Library of Wales. She is a professionally trained archivist and has extensive experience in promoting, preserving and providing access to unique content of national significance.

SALLY SHEARD is executive dean of the Institute of Population Health at the University of Liverpool, where she also holds the Andrew Geddes and John Rankin chair of modern history.

JAMES STRACHAN is chief executive of Eastleigh Borough Council in south Hampshire, and has been a senior leader in Hampshire local government for 16 years. Strachan’s role at the council includes a responsibility for information governance. 

ARUNA VERMA is a lawyer, associate professor, and campus dean at The University of Law, Moorgate. As well as overseeing academic programmes at the university, Verma has strong links with industry professionals, bridging the gap between academia and legal practice.

Finally, SIR SIMON WESSELY is the regius chair of psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, part of King’s College London. He is also a consultant liaison psychiatrist at the Maudsley and King’s College Hospitals.
