Perth Theatre and Concert Hall has appointed two new joint-associate directors, marking a return to a former leadership structure.

MORAG FULLARTON and PATRICK SANDFORD will form part of a group of creative associates, including an internal producer, dramaturg and emerging and mid-career writers and directors, who will work with artistic director CHRISTOPHER GLASGOW as the venue returns to full capacity as a producing house.

A playwright and TV director, Fullarton was co-artistic director of A Play, A Pie and A Pint from 2016 to 2020 and previously was artistic director of Borderline Theatre.

Sandford was a trainee and associate director at Perth Theatre. He was also artistic director of the Nuffield Theatre, Southampton for over 20 years and has worked across Scotland at venues including the Royal Lyceum, Tron Theatre and Pitlochry Theatre.

Glasgow said he was “delighted” to welcome Fullarton and Sandford, noting that their appointments follow the venue’s confirmed funding boost from Creative Scotland.

“Morag and Patrick will help us in our mission to galvanise an inspiring collective of creative associates, giving established and emerging writers, directors and dramaturgs the opportunity to showcase and develop their skills,” said Glasgow.

“Our reprisal of the associate director model is a signal of our commitment to supporting the grassroots of Scottish theatre, and both Morag and Patrick are demonstrably committed to nurturing creative talents at all stages in their career.”
