New RSNO associate leader will be ‘an immense asset’ to the orchestra
The Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) has appointed SHLOMY DOBRINSKY as associate leader, completing the lineup of the organisation’s front desk following the recent appointment of IGOR YUZEFOVICH as principal guest leader, alongside leader MAYA IWABUCHI and associate leader LENA ZELISZEWSKA.
A member of the Philharmonia for over 10 years, Dobrinsky is an accomplished solo, chamber, and orchestral musician and has performed with artists including Hiromi, Hugh Jackman, Mei Yi Foo, and Maiko Mori at a variety of venues such as Wigmore Hall, Auditorium di Trieste, Windsor Castle and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
‘I am delighted for Shlomy to be joining the Orchestra as Associate Leader,” said Yuzefovich. “His skill, sensitivity and awareness as a player, along with his warm and all-embracing personality, will be an immense asset to the first violins and the Orchestra as a whole. He will be a great partner to both Maya Iwabuchi and me in shaping the sound of the strings.”
RSNO music director THOMAS SØNDERGÅRD added: “He is a wonderful musician and talented leader and will bring so much to the orchestra.”
Reflecting on his appointment, Dobrinsky said, “I first performed with the RSNO as a guest nine years ago, playing Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, and as it happens, this will be my first piece as the newly appointed associate leader.
“I am thrilled to be moving to my new home in Scotland with my husband and joining this wonderful musical family.”
