Education director at the English Folk Dance & Song Society, RACHEL ELLIOTT, has been announced as a new trustee for Protein Dance.

Elliott’s experience includes inclusive dance practice, particularly with D/deaf and disabled artists and in cross-cultural dance forms, holding senior education roles at Green Candle Dance Company and Akādemi South Asian Dance UK.

Prior to this, she worked as a dance artist and educator for organisations including London Contemporary Dance Trust, Sadler’s Wells, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Race Art New Asian Dance Theatre.

She is also chair of Camden Music’s steering group.

Protein Dance creates work comprising original choreography, text, music and social commentary, and engages specific communities, including children and young people in alternative provision schools and hospitals, those in care homes, and refugees.

Producer and trustee of the Independent Theatre Council, MICHAEL JOHNSON, said he was delighted to introduce Elliott as a new trustee.

He said: “On behalf of all the trustees and team at Protein, we wish Rachel a warm welcome.”
