The Cartoon Museum has appointed BETH BRYAN as its new director as it heads into its 20th year in 2026.

Starting in November, Bryan will bring experience as senior engagement manager for London & the South at The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Barbican futures planning officer at the Barbican Centre to the role at the London museum.

Alongside this, Bryan also worked as learning and engagement manager for three years at Hogarth’s House in London.

Bryan will replace former director JOE SULLIVAN, who, after nearly six years in the role, has moved on to serve as CEO at Royal Gunpowder Mills in Waltham.

Bryan said it was a “privilege” to join “the award-winning team” at The Cartoon Museum.

She said: “I am honoured to build upon the strong foundations of inspiration and inclusion at the museum, whose unique collections highlight the importance that cartoons have played throughout British history.”

“The team and I are eager to share new and beloved programmes with our audiences as we celebrate our 20th year in 2026,” she added.

Museum chair NICOLA JENNINGS said she was “delighted” to welcome Byran, saying that she brings “energy, expertise and flair to the role”.

“We are sure the museum will benefit from her steady hand,” she added.
