The National Theatre (NT) has made five key appointments, including three new trustees.

President of Google across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, DEBBIE WEINSTEIN, award-winning filmmaker, Baroness BEEBAN KIDRON, and president and managing director of The Economist, LUKE-BRADLEY JONES, will be joining the NT board to help it achieve its aim to reach global audiences of 40 million by 2030.

In addition, the Southbank venue has appointed former artistic director and CEO of Hackney Empire and joint director of culture and community for Haringey YAMIN CHOUDURY as director of learning, leading the strategy for working with young people and schools.

Managing director of 4Studio at Channel 4, MATT RISLEY, will also be joining the NT’s executive committee as the first ever chief digital officer, overseeing the next phase of the theatre’s digital journey.

Their appointment will ensure that the NT is “future-fit and focused on how the organisation reaches even more people”.

NT Chair DAMON BUFFINI said he was “thrilled” to welcome the new group of leaders to help them focus on “expanding access, sparking creativity, and nurturing the next generation of talent, with an ambition to reach every young person in the UK before they leave school”.
