Chief executive of Manchester Jewish Museum, GARETH REDSTON, will step down after 10 years with the organisation to take up a new role as director of creative engagement and impact at the Octagon Theatre in Bolton.

Programmes manager GEMMA MEEK will serve as the museum’s interim chief executive until a new permanent CEO is appointed.

Redston became CEO in 2022, after acting as interim CEO and head of programmes. Before joining the museum, he held positions at The Science and Industry Museum and Chester Zoo. He has also chaired the annual Cheetham Cultural Festival.

CATH BIRCHALL, trustee and treasurer at Manchester Jewish Museum, said: “During my nine years as a trustee, it has been great to share time with Gareth through the hard work and the celebrations.

“Thanks to his tenacity and team work he is leaving a strong ship though and we wish him continued success with his new exciting role at Bolton Octagon.”
